TAMPA, Fla. — Jarett Rieger, Esq., MBA, has been named Moffitt Cancer Center’s new vice president and chief innovation officer. Rieger will continue to oversee Moffitt’s Office of Innovation and Industry Alliances, which is focused on commercializing intellectual property and forging industry alliances. He joined Moffitt in 2004 and has served as the manager, director and senior director of this office before being promoted to the new role.
Over the past several years, Rieger has been the lead negotiator on many strategic partnerships with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Recently announced agreements include a multiyear research collaboration with Turnstone Biologics to develop new tumor infiltrating lymphocyte therapies and a 10-year translational science research alliance with Deerfield Management to accelerate the development of new cancer therapeutics. Rieger has been with the Office of Innovation and Industry Alliances since its early days, and with the help of his team has evaluated 930 inventions, secured 241 U.S. patents and executed 238 licenses/intellectual property agreements.

Rieger received his Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degrees from Stetson University College of Law. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from Rollins College. He is board certified in intellectual property law by the Florida Bar and is a Certified Licensing Professional. Additionally, he has been admitted to practice law in Florida and registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
